Sue Smith

Sue Smith was the art critic at The Courier-Mail, Brisbane from 1990 and Senior Art Critic from1999 to 2002, and is a director of Grafico (Qld) Pty Ltd, arts and curatorial consultants. Sue holds the degrees of Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, and Master of Arts from the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London. Sue was Foundation Arts Librarian at the Queensland State Library from 1978 to 1981, Curator of Prints, Drawings and Photographs at the Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane, from 1972 to 1977 and 1981 to 1987. From 1987 to 1989 Sue lived and worked in England, where she was Australian art consultant at Christie’s, London. Sue has lectured widely and written for books, catalogues and magazines, and has organised numerous exhibitions, including the touring surveys ‘Queensland Pictorialist Photography 1920–1950’ 1984 and ‘Journeys North’ 1988. For North of Capricorn: The Art of Ray Crooke, and the exhibition which it accompanies, Sue initiated the project, selected, researched and catalogued the art works, and provided biographical notes, list of exhibitions and bibliography, and additional texts.
For the "Lloyd Rees : coming home" exhibition for The Rockhampton Art Gallery, Sue interviewed the Rees family, and wrote the catelogue text.
Sue curated an Australian Landscape exhibition "Landscape as a Metephor" for the Perc Tucker Regional Gallery, Townsville, and compiled a bibliography for "Blighted Paradise: Colonial Visions of Northern Australia".
Sue was Manager, Art Services and Director of the Rockhampton Art Gallery, Rockhampton City Council, Queensland, Australia from 2001 to 2010, where she established a significant Japanese Art Collection and brought in more than $4 million dollars worth of gifts and donations across a broad range of work. Sue is now researching and writing for The Morning Bulletin for their 150th anniversary year.

Michael Walker

Michael Walker, Managing Director of Grafico (Qld) Pty Ltd has been involved in the arts for the past 25 years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Environmental Design) TCAE. He has been a Professional Musician / Songwriter/ Band Manager - previously signed to MCA Music, Mushroom Music,  RCA Records and Polygram Records. Michael was the singer and songwriter in the Brisbane band "Solid Citizens" in the 80's signed to RCA. The band recorded at The Manor Studios in Oxford, UK and worked with producers Mike Shipley (The Cars, Deff Leppard etc) and Mark Goldenberg.
Michael has negotiated major recording and publishing contracts, organised and co-ordinated international recordings, tours and public relations through MCA & RCA and affiliated companies. He has had songs in the ABC TV series "Sweet and Sour", and "Dancing Daze", co-wrote, co-produced the soundtrack for the movie "Robbery" (Channel 10), had songs on three #No 1 albums in the Australian national charts. He has performed l
ive on television shows ‘Countdown’ (national), ‘After Dark’ (national), ‘Video Hits’ (Qld).
Michael has run a successful architectural documentation business since 1994, worked as a project and senior project manager for Project Services, Department of Public Works ,Queensland Government, co-ordinated the promotion of the Ray Crooke Exhibition, designed and constructed this web site. Michael also produced tracks for the upcoming self titled EP for Gold Coast Band New School Hero signed to the company's record label "Grafico Music". A track from the EP "Gotta Go" co-written with the band, has been included in the soundtrack album of the Australian surfing film "Liquid Bridge", was included in the ABC, BBC and Sesame St. workshop co-production of the return TV series "Out There" and was the central theme for the RACQ's "Free2go" youth driving educational program. In 2009 Michael was the driving force behind the not for profit, ROCKon community Music Summit http://www.rockon.org.au which was the first regional music summit in Queensland. He has also worked as a music technology lecturer at CQUniversity.
Michael has recently released a new single called "Your luvin hurts me" which can be previewed on www.solidcitizens.com.au
